ICRC Homeland Defense Vehicle Showcased at SAE World Congress

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – April 17, 2007 – Integrated Concepts & Research Corporation (ICRC), a diversified technical and management services company, announced today that a homeland defense vehicle it produced for a U.S. Army National Automotive Center field evaluation program is being showcased this week at the SAE World Congress in Detroit, MI. The vehicle is displayed in the U.S. Army TARDEC booth (Booth Number 701).

Built on the International MXT medium-duty truck, the vehicle was designed to improve the ability of first responders to react to terrorist attacks, chemical spills and other homeland security incidents. Earlier this year it was fielded to the Michigan Army National Guard’s Civil Support Team to augment its homeland security mission.

The vehicle is the first implementation of ICRC’s NG-VISIONTM (National Guard Vehicle Information System for Interoperability and Networking) product, which provides first responders with rapid detection, identification and early warning capabilities by integrating multiple software applications and devices. Through a single interface, users can manage advanced electronics, communications equipment, security and counter-terrorism measures, and other smart technologies.

Among the vehicle’s features on display at the SAE World Congress are:
  • Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) agent detection software that provides warnings about air quality outside the vehicle
  • A HAZMAT database that provides information about specific hazardous materials
  • GPS navigation software with maps of the continental United States
  • Vehicle diagnostics software compatible with the International MXT that allows users to troubleshoot vehicle problems and perform preventive maintenance
  • A radio communications interoperability switch that allows first responders to talk to each other via dissimilar communications systems
  • Cellular Internet connectivity and satellite phone communications
  • Halogen area lighting and infrared camera systems for night time surveillance
